With Obi-Wan Kenobi coming soon to Disney+, Star Wars fans are once again wondering if there will be any surprise return characters in the upcoming series. While we don’t have any news on definite cameos yet, Samuel L. Jackson, who played the Jedi Mace Windu in the prequel films, has said he’s more than ready to head back to the Star Wars galaxy.
In an interview with Josh Horowitz for his Happy Sad Confused podcast (via CBR), Jackson shared that he would love to reprise his Star Wars role of Mace Windu, a Jedi who—like others in Star Wars canon—lost a hand in Revenge of the Sith in a battle with the newly turned Anakin. To make things even worse for Windu, Palpatine then threw him out a window with his Force lightning.
People come back from the presumed dead all the time in Star Wars, however. (Just ask Palpatine!) And Jackson is so ready to put on those Jedi robes once again that he even asked Bryce Dallas Howard, who has directed episodes of The Mandalorian, if she could pull some strings for him.
“I asked her, ‘So, could you hook a brother up? You like me, right?’” Jackson jokingly said. “And she’s like, ‘I love you! You’re amazing!’ And so I said, put me back in the game! Put me in coach, I’m ready. I’ll learn to lightsaber left-handed, come on—hook me up.”
Jackson isn’t the only one who would love to see Mace Windu again. Temuera Morrison, who plays Boba Fett, has also expressed wanting to see Windu once more, if only for his character to torture him since Windu killed Boba Fett’s dad, Jango Fett.
Whether we’ll see Windu again remains to be seen. As we wait and wonder, however, we can watch Jackson’s entire exchange below, which also includes him talking about his Jurassic Park character, a man who also had his arm forcefully removed from his body.
